Author Guidelines

Láàńgbàsà is a peer-reviewed academic journal published annually by the Department of Linguistics, African and Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos, Nigeria. The journal is devoted to the publication of high-quality, original research in Yorùbá studies, including language, linguistics, stylistics, literature, culture, and history.
1. Scope and Originality
- Manuscripts submitted to Láàńgbàsà must present original scholarly research and must not have been previously published or be under consideration elsewhere.
- Submissions should make a clear and significant contribution to the advancement of Yorùbá studies.
- Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and scholarly integrity of their work.
2. Language of Manuscripts
- Articles must be written primarily in Yorùbá, using modern Yorùbá orthography, including appropriate tone marks and diacritics.
- Abstracts must be provided in both Yorùbá and English.
3. Manuscript Length
- Manuscripts should not exceed 20 pages, inclusive of references, tables, and appendices.
4. Manuscript Preparation and Formatting
- Submissions must be prepared in Microsoft Word format.
- Text should be double-line spaced, using Times New Roman, 12-point font size.
- Standard margins should be applied throughout the manuscript.
- Italics should be used instead of underlining, except for URLs.
- Tables, figures, and illustrations must be clearly labeled and embedded within the text at appropriate locations.
5. Structure of the Manuscript
Each manuscript should be arranged in the following order:
- Title of the article
- Abstract in Yorùbá (maximum of 250 words)
- Abstract in English (maximum of 250 words)
- Keywords (five [5] keywords)
- Main body of the article
- References
6. Referencing Style
- Láàńgbàsà adopts the APA referencing style (6th Edition).
- All in-text citations and references must strictly conform to this format.
7. Peer-Review Process
- All manuscripts are subjected to a double-blind peer-review process.
- Authors must ensure that identifying information is removed from the manuscript to facilitate anonymous review.
- Editorial decisions are based on reviewers’ evaluations and recommendations.
8. Submission and Assessment Fee
- An assessment fee of ₦10,000.00 is required at the point of submission.
- Manuscripts will not be processed until evidence of payment is received.
9. Publication Fee
- Upon acceptance, authors are required to pay a publication fee of ₦30,000.00 per article.
10. Ethical Considerations
- Authors must avoid all forms of plagiarism and properly acknowledge all sources.
- Submissions must comply with accepted standards of academic ethics and research integrity.
